Etan Thomas having heart surgery today

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Wizards backup center Etan Thomas is undergoing surgery to repair a leak in his aortic valve today and certainly I wish him luck. He’s out for the year and his career might be over, all of which sucks both for Etan (obviously) and the Wizards (though clearly in a much lesser way).

Since I have nothing to add to the heart surgery news, I guess I’ll say I am intrigued by the idea of using Andray Blatche as at the center spot in relief of Brendon Haywood. Blatche is tall enough to go against most centers in the East, even if he probably will be giving up some pounds. In Eddie’s offense I think Blatche could fit quite perfectly at the 5. Its an interesting experiment, at least, and might give Andray some more chances to get on the floor.
