I toyed around with writing a whole 2007 season preview for the Orioles but never really got around to it. Let me just go on the record now as saying I strongly believe that we have a pretty good shot at the wild card. Lowen, Caberea and Bedard all looked good this spring and Markasis is on the verge of stardom. So you heard it here first, the Orioles are your 2007 wild card winners. Book it.
I should note that Baseball Prospectus, using their PECOTA projection numbers (via Unfiltered), has the Orioles finishing last in the AL East with a projected record of 74-88 and a 5% chance of winning the division and 4% chance of winning the wild card. So now you know how smart I’ll look when they come through.
